Laphroaig 17 Year Old 2004 Single Cask (Master of Malt)
Our very own bottling of Laphroaig single malt Scotch! We were tempted to keep this one back for ourselves, and just rack the cask up on the staff bar, but it's too good not to share with the world. Matured for 17 years between 2004 and 2022 in a refill hogshead, and finished in an ex-Pedro Ximénez sherry cask, a total outturn of 132 bottles came forth for our independent Single Cask series.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Heavy oak with medicinal notes creeping in, before coming to the fore. Vegetal peat and charred rosemary build, while butterscotch and vanilla sweetness battle through in time.
Palate
Silky sweet caramel, buttery pastry, and layers of creamy vanilla develop into biscuity malt. Stewed apple and creamy macadamia arrive before dried chilli appears. Intense peppery peat warms the tongue.
Finish
Earthen, smouldering herbs tangle with silky caramel. Dried fruit lingers, with a whisper of peppery iodine to wrap things up.
