Lagg Inaugural Release Batch 1
Exciting stuff from the newest distillery on the isle of Arran. This is the first batch of three inaugural releases from Lagg Distillery – a heavily peated single malt, matured in ex-bourbon casks and bottled up in 2022. Boasting a vibrant smoky character, with plenty of vanilla caramel cask influence, here we see the team at Lagg perfecting what will be its house style going forward. See, we said it was exciting stuff!
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Earthy peat and crumbly vanilla fudge tangle, with a touch of menthol creeping beneath.
Palate
Oily with silky caramel, charred sugar, and biscuity malt balancing rich, vegetal peat smoke. Some pebbly grist arrives beneath, joined by herbaceous spice.
Finish
Chewy peat lingers with a touch of iodine, while butterscotch and vanilla pod remain in play.
