Label 5
Blended
Label 5 Classic Black, is a very well known (particularly in France) blended Scotch whisky, made with a hearty helping of fruity Speyside malts at its core. A great value blend.
Rather sweet with vanilla and sticky toffee pudding. Hints of ginger and cinnamon.
Apples, pears and a subtle grassy note or two. A little citrus and caramel.
A clean finish with lemon zest and brown sugar.
It was recommended to me by the Manager of my local Liquor City and I have to agree that I was both pleasantly surprised and delighted. Highly recommended.
Excellent whisky, very tasty, smooth. I like it and it is one of my favourite brand.
Exceptional value for money. Very smooth with a hint of sweet smoke. I always keep a bottle around.
Very surprised, I'd not considered Label 5 at all previously, and I find that I have been missing out for years. A delightful blended whiskey with a soft on the pallet taste of toffee and vanilla - just as described here. My new favourite blend.
On dear! Where to start? I suppose if you want a cheap whisky to use with a mixer it's OK. If you want a decent blended whisky to drink neat or with water then you may be disappointed. Personally if I'm drinking blended whisky rather than my preferred single malts I look for something with a good percentage of Islay to get some smokiness, or Highland to get that floral sweetness. This is predominantly SPEYSIDE which I find too sharp for my taste. To me, although the taste is different, the quality is about the same as Bells or Famous Grouse which I think have both suffered in recent years. There are certainly better blended whiskies on the market if you are prepared to pay a couple of pounds more, But if you want cheap and use a mixer the give it a try.
