A sherried expression from the Kurayoshi range, created by little-known Japanese whisky producer Matsui Shuzou (also known for sake and shochu). These whiskies are blended malts, made with whiskies distilled in Scotland and shipped over to Japan, where they're blended with Japanese whisky.
Walnuts and chocolate peanuts, with a touch of cranberry.
Sultana and honeyed bread, with a lingering touch of ground ginger.
Crunchy brown sugar, stewed pears and blueberries.
Very smooth, great for those who don’t like the strong peaty smoky flavour.
Taste is harsh, young spirit with heavy raw alcohol tang. No obvious sherry influence. You can do better. Avoid.
one of the worst whiskies i’ve ever had. Smells like sulphur and sambucca and tastes like water and brown bread
Big disappointment. I was looking to add to my collection of Japanese whiskys when I came across the Kurayoshi at my local liquor store. Having been thrilled w Hibiki and Nikka Coffey Grain, I thought for sure this would be another hit. Flavor falls flat, and not nearly as complex as the others. It’s smooth but best mixed w Canadian Club Soda or Ginger Ale.
Chocolatey smooth
