The smokiest whisky from the anCnoc Peaty range - Peatheart! The Knockdhu distillery has used barley malted to 40 PPM (for perspective, Highland Park whiskies sit at around 20 PPM, while Ardbeg whiskies weigh in at about 50-55 PPM) and it was aged in ex-bourbon barrels before bottling at 46% ABV.
Shortbread, oakcakes, pipe tobacco leading towards earthy peat smoke. Lighter notes of citrus peels and vanilla ice cream.
Chocolate malt, a touch of BBQ meat, cinder toffee and cardamom seed.
Surprisingly refreshing on the finish - smoke still persists, but notes of green apple and orange blossom develop alongside it.

It's a nice change for an islay peathead, Smokey peaty WITH a light citrus taste in a springbank style. Then a nice light peaty finish but it ain't harsh for sure ??? .My bottle bought from here in November was a nice change maybe light for some but I like it 87 out of 100 sort of score as j.m. would say
I like this peaty anCnoc it's nice like an islay / springbank citrus and fresh ,my bottle was not harsh like other review ??? An 88 out of 100 score for now but bottle just opened so it could get better in a few weeks once I have had a few out of it.Last ardbeg I had improved by 5 points after 20 % was used for example .
This is not a smooth dram it is very peaty but the finish is quite harsh . Maybe more water with it if going to finish the bottle off , shan’t be buying again
