Introduced in the latter half of 2014, the 18 year old anCnoc single malt Scotch whisky from the Knockdhu distillery was matured in a combination of European oak ex-Sherry and American oak ex-bourbon casks. Following maturation, this handsome Highland whisky is bottled without chill-filtration or additional colour.
Unrefined sugar and satisfying raw honey with blood orange and satsuma segments. Cocoa and leather depth too.
Honeyed and spiced. Full bodied. Toffees but also lemon, gooseberry, and fig rolls. Some chocolate and liquorice.
A long finish with warming, quality sherried spice.
A great 18yo complex whiskey
Fruity, toasted raisins and warm honey. Delightfully complex, yet balanced, with an abnormally long finish that I can only describe as "oily". What a dram!
Finished this now after buying in September. Initially very approachaby sweet and citrussy and friends new to it have really enjoyed it. My favourite element is the spice quite intense and warming like pepper or clove. However over time decided this isn't my favourite - the sweetness is quite sugary and thin and the balance isn't great... gentle brown sugary sweetness quickly kicks into fiery spice without hanging together well and the aftertaste is quite bitter and drying which isn't really my thing.
