Knob Creek is a small batch bourbon produced by Jim Beam, distilled in a more traditional style and aged 9 nine years. It is named for the area in Kentucky where Abraham Lincoln grew up, it is said that the creek nearly claimed his life when he was swimming.
The nose is quite spicy and sweet. There are notes of melted salty butter on granary toast, there are notes of toasty oak and a touch of rye with caramel sweetness. The palate is quite peppy and full. There are notes of candy floss and nut oil, a touch of spice and dark chocolate, a little spice and charred oak. The finish is long with a touch of dryness, there are notes of nut oils and vanilla spice.
As the granddaughter of a Kentucky whiskey maker, only a few bourbons appeal to me. This one has a sweet, caramel nose with warmth and a slight smokiness. The flavor is at once sweet and warm. I find it perfect for sipping over a single ice cube in the winter. After the initial sip, the spiciness comes through strong with cinnamon and more than a hint of pepper. I have tried many fine whiskey bourbons and this is the one I come back to again and again. I would also mention that I am too old to be a snob and price is not what makes a grand bourbon, taste is!
Deliciously full and rich bourbon. Not too sweet with hints of smoke and rye. Very good. Will put hair on ya.
love it
i am very disappointed to buy a bottle, and to discover that the cork is now in plastic. I couldn't believe it. what is that, now ? you have a perfect product, 9 years old, and you try to save money with the cork ! sorry but it's not in equivalence with the product, completely fault, I am used to buy this product in america, and I can't closed my mouth and just let go, it's a pity,, for me you get no point on this matter.
Best bourbon in its price range. Spicy, punchy, but absolutely delicious. you can taste the 100 proof and 50%, but with ice is perfect. I read through their website as I was enjoying a glass just now, and its a great story to match a great bourbon. And hey, if its good enough for Hank Schrader it is good enough for me!
