Knob Creek is a small batch bourbon produced by Jim Beam, distilled in a more traditional style and aged 9 nine years. It is named for the area in Kentucky where Abraham Lincoln grew up, it is said that the creek nearly claimed his life when he was swimming.
The nose is quite spicy and sweet. There are notes of melted salty butter on granary toast, there are notes of toasty oak and a touch of rye with caramel sweetness. The palate is quite peppy and full. There are notes of candy floss and nut oil, a touch of spice and dark chocolate, a little spice and charred oak. The finish is long with a touch of dryness, there are notes of nut oils and vanilla spice.
I tried it both straight & on ice. I completely enjoyed both drinks. I then looked it up on the net and found that Jim Beam produced this. That made sense to me because I love Jim Beam Extra Aged & Signature Craft. This drink is now going in my personal bar. "Cheers if you can!"
i usually sip single malts and probably will continue but when i am looking for that difference in flavor while not losing the smoothness and intensity, then this whiskey will be at hand.
First experience of whiskey in more than two decades on advice from a true whiskey drinker. Here are my notes: Soft; Sweet; Rich; Orange on the tongue, but lemon on the nose; Woody; Spicy; Caramel prevalent; a bit peppery, but very likely to be just the alcohol, although not warm. Would I have this as my only alcohol on a deserted island for a year? Yeah, okay. So good for everyday, but likely there is better out there.
This is my go to bourbon. I love taking it along on long winter hunting trips or up to the cabin after a day of skiing. Smooth but with good burn at the end. A fine whiskey indeed!
Amazingly smooth for 9 years. Priced right. Good everyday sipper.
