Knob Creek is a small batch bourbon produced by Jim Beam, distilled in a more traditional style and aged 9 nine years. It is named for the area in Kentucky where Abraham Lincoln grew up, it is said that the creek nearly claimed his life when he was swimming.
The nose is quite spicy and sweet. There are notes of melted salty butter on granary toast, there are notes of toasty oak and a touch of rye with caramel sweetness. The palate is quite peppy and full. There are notes of candy floss and nut oil, a touch of spice and dark chocolate, a little spice and charred oak. The finish is long with a touch of dryness, there are notes of nut oils and vanilla spice.
I agree with the other negative reviews here - this is not in my top 10 bourbons in the $30 price range. It has the bitter after taste reminiscent of Jim Beam White Label. It's harsh neat or with a cube of ice. It lacks flavor and character all together. For $30 a bottle, I'll take Woodford Reserve, Bulleit, or Maker's Mark over Knob Creek any day. It's a well liquor with higher alcohol content.
From the first smell to tasting this truly wonderful Bourbon. It really has a kick which you would expect from a 1oo proof 50% Bourbon . Only bought it as an "extra" as duty free and wish I had taken my quota totally with this .
At $40 Canadian it is a great deal
If you a are a real whiskey drinker you will like this. The ones who left bad reviews are stupid or it's their first shot of whiskey. Some people actually said it's too strong and taste like alcohol. Lol no shit read the bottle. 100 proof .50% it's gonna taste like alchemy stick to your wine coolers. This has wonderful aromas that continue to enhanace and change while sipping. Lots of vanilla, Caramel, with a burn like red hots cinnamon, brown sugar, pepper. For the price it is turkey a quality whiskey. The 120 proof is even better. If you like high alcohol content. Add a few drops of water and drink straight. Enjoy!
Two fingers/1 ice cube. Vanilla, caramel and a little nutty without being too sweet. Plenty of oak and a little bit of black pepper to give it some balls. Knob Creek was my intro into premium Bourbon many years ago and it was everything I was looking for in a sipping whiskey. I've sampled many out there. I've recently been tasting several of the wheated bourbons, and there are several good ones out there, they are smooth and sweet, but when I come back to the Knob Creek I know why I love bourbon, it's just a different experience. But to say it was so bad that you dumped it down the drain? Someone should be drinking Cosmos! Cheers!
