A handsome release from Islay's newest distillery, Kilchoman Sanaig is an enjoyably peaty single malt which has been vatted from both bourbon and sherry casks. It's named after a small, rocky creek rather near the distillery on the west coast of the island. Look out for plenty of fruit and earthy peat coming through on this one, with a touch of dark chocolate-covered raisins.
Pineapple chunks and white grapes. Hints of fresh coffee carry the earthy, subtly spicy peat. Toffee cubes.
More light fruits (this time of the peach variety), with dark chocolate raisins and a whisper of red berries. Peat grows and grows, with a little black pepper too.
Quite long with coastal peat lasting.

This was upsold to me by my local whisky merchant based on my love of Caol Ila and I decided to take a chance on it. Deliciously sweet peat straight off, tiny bit of spice and really nice long finish. And what a colour! Did not expect such a good taste from such a young spirit. I've not had a bad Kilchoman yet and will be keeping a close eye on them.
Just received my bottle from Master of Malt , what can I say , for a no age statement the colour is remarkable , I guess the sherry cask maturation Is quite long and the bourbon cask pretty short but taste wise it's very good ,dark fruits ,slight citrus ,chocolate ,smoke, decent finish , great stuff.
Really intresting, can't figure anything I've tried that tastes like this..
This is a fantastic whiskey, complex, solid, sherry cask background. layers of peat and harmonious smuchinous. Get this thing its one of their cheapest and the best of their good selection and I've got most of them and none are bad.
You can really taste the elements of this fantastic whisky. A full, rich, spicy, peaty mouthful. It’s assertive and demands your attention. It’s getting better and better the further down the bottle I’m drinking. The quality of the ingredients and care put into making this spirit shine through. Excellent.
