A handsome release from Islay's newest distillery, Kilchoman Sanaig is an enjoyably peaty single malt which has been vatted from both bourbon and sherry casks. It's named after a small, rocky creek rather near the distillery on the west coast of the island. Look out for plenty of fruit and earthy peat coming through on this one, with a touch of dark chocolate-covered raisins.
Pineapple chunks and white grapes. Hints of fresh coffee carry the earthy, subtly spicy peat. Toffee cubes.
More light fruits (this time of the peach variety), with dark chocolate raisins and a whisper of red berries. Peat grows and grows, with a little black pepper too.
Quite long with coastal peat lasting.

Pleasant enough but grossly over priced. Head down town Tesco and by what's on special offer, it will be just as good.
Bought this for my friend, who is something of a connoisseur when it comes to Islay whisky. He really enjoyed this and I did too! In fact it is now his new favourite. Smokey, peaty and nicely rounded by the sherry sweetness. Better than any others I have tasted for his price level, so great value too.
Nams,I have to say one of the best Islay whiskeys I have tasted.Smooth and full of flavours and sweet is good for my taste.
Excellent smooth and sweet whisky with no harshness I could detect. Sherry notes to the fore for me which I found very pleasant. Perhaps a little less complex than some but a nice dram all the same. A little too easy to drink if anything. I don't think this bottle will last very long.
First taste of this particular whisky and I like it very much. I am not a whisky expert, far from it, but this is one of the best I have tried. Very smooth, sweet sherry notes and no harshness I can detect. Pleasant lingering peat but not overwhelming. Perhaps less complex than some I have tried but a very pleasant dram. As good as the bottle of 18yr old Bowmore which I enjoyed recently. Definitely very much influenced by the sherry and therefore may not appeal to those who do not appreciate this aspect. For those that appreciate a good sherry I suspect you will love this.
