Kilbeggan is named after St Bécán, one of the Twelve Apostles of Ireland who founded a monastery in the area in the 6th century. Smooth and malty.
The nose is smooth and gentle with nut oils, hazelnut and barley, cereal sweetness and a little peat. The palate is of good body with honeyed sweetness and malt. The finish is short with oaked dryness.
Lovely dram, sweet with plenty of interesting flavours to savour. Once emptied I'll definitely buy another bottle especially if at this price. Sublime?
I love it! A great combo of tasty and easy going on the stomach
Another good priced and drinkable Irish. Not Jameson but ok.
Just fine for what it is, a good value and decent blended Irish dram. Doesn't compete with 10-12 year old Powers, Bushmills, Redbreasts, Knappogues, or any of the Spot whiskeys, but at this price point it is nice neat or in a cocktail. Slightly sweet , vanilla, malt, subtle peach and pear, cereal. Not complex and not a long finish but will always be an Irish blended that serves as a daily sipper or nice change of pace from Jameson or Bushmills original white label.
It's no Power's John's Lane, but it's the best bottle of Irish whiskey you can buy for £22.
