    Kilbeggan

Kilbeggan is named after St Bécán, one of the Twelve Apostles of Ireland who founded a monastery in the area in the 6th century. Smooth and malty.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

The nose is smooth and gentle with nut oils, hazelnut and barley, cereal sweetness and a little peat. The palate is of good body with honeyed sweetness and malt. The finish is short with oaked dryness.

    Perfectly fine for the price

Love the wankers saying it’s harsh and unrefined. They don’t have a clue. This is great for the price. Whilst not complex, it is smooth and pleasant, with enough character to keep you drinking.

    Excellent value for money

One of the best value for money Irish whiskeys, purchased from Masters of Malt. Smooth with vanilla and sweet malt taste. Will soon be purchasing another bottle.

    Great for the price

I usually review Scotch on here but after a recent trip to Ireland I've been doing my best to try as much of their fine whiskey as possible. This is one I actually tried at a hotel in Dublin and it was good enough to make me want to visit the distillery. Very smooth and yet a bit sweeter and more full flavored than a lot of other Irish whiskeys at this price point which I attribute to the double distillation used here instead of the triple which is typical with Irish whiskey. Definitely lots of barley flavor with a slight nuttiness and even a distinct fruity/yeasty note throughout each sip. Excellent stuff I guess I will need to go back when there isn't a pandemic so I can actually take a look around inside the distillery ( the outside is quite beautiful though). Great value and a unique whiskey for sure. Slainte! The Sugarbear

    Far from extraordinary.

Usually, due to Irish Whiskeys being less complex than Scotch, you find well-balanced, pleasant, friendly flavours. With Killbeggan, I get sharp ethanol with little flavours really standing out over it. If you're going Irish, Jameson is a much better budget option, or try your hand with more complex flavours in the Bushmills range.
