Kilbeggan is named after St Bécán, one of the Twelve Apostles of Ireland who founded a monastery in the area in the 6th century. Smooth and malty.
The nose is smooth and gentle with nut oils, hazelnut and barley, cereal sweetness and a little peat. The palate is of good body with honeyed sweetness and malt. The finish is short with oaked dryness.
First taste is OK, but weak; then some sort of odd, chemical taste that lasts and is unpalatable (YMMV). I bought it on a flyer because Powers is unavailable near where I live.
Not much to this: light, no burn, inoffensive. But nothing to write home about.
ive drunk alot of lagavulin laphroig balvenie peat 14 years glenfiddich but this little baby connemara peated takes some beating for price it is so moorish then full fruit sweetness smacks you vanilla gentle and then explosion of earth fantastic combination to a really smooth finish
Just got looped from a half bottle I found in me cubbard on St. Patrick's Day 2021...Finished it and woke up a bit at 4:00 am. To message you guys.
Great value for the price. Quite sweet and smooth. Surprisingly a bit complex with some deeper flavors, for an Irish whisky anyway.
