The Solist Vinho Barrique whiskies from King Car's Kavalan range are always impressive expressions. These Taiwanese single malts are matured in casks that have held red and white wine, which are re-toasted before being filled with the fabulous whisky. Expect big, bold, full-bodied flavours here, folks.
Vanilla and caramelised sugars with dark chocolate on top. Ripe melon and mango.
Kiwi and a delicate blend of citrus fruits burst. Pepper is also present in the background waiting to be noticed.
Clean and complex hints of chocolate and ripe fruit.
I bought that gem in Paphos summer 2020, the price was about 200 euro.. very expensive but because i was curious to know what was the hype about, so i purchased it anyway.. Nose: it lays between rum and a good whisky, sherry, ripe fruits, red apple, dark fruits or red fruits, chocolate, plum, raisins, dates and molasses, mango or papaya, figs? very..very complex and with water is. bomb of flavours.. you can pour as much as you want.. never drown, you feel like you want to nose this for ever. Palate: almost what i had in the nose but i get more like caramel and hint of cola in the end mixed with a good quality oak.. this is scary good! Finish: LONG, long.. very long.
Incredible. Well rounded, complex, full bodied and unique. Uniqe... There are so many fruity, appealing drams that are good... But do not stand out. This one stands out, boldly. And delivers to every honest dram lover who cares not, where on earth the whisky was created.
