Taiwanese single malt whisky from the much-acclaimed Kavalan range, produced at the King Car Distillery in the Yi-Lan County. This particular expression was given a finishing period in a cask that was previously home to Amontillado Sherry, and bottled at 55.6% ABV.
Big waves of tropical fruit and almost Fino-like nuttiness coming from the Sherried malt.
Chocolate-y at first (think chocolate orange and dark chocolate truffle), though the pineapple and guava notes from the nose soon return.
Drying spices and a final burst of sharp pineapple.
