This is the 2015 Tastival release from the Jura distillery. Following on from the 2014 edition (which was ambitiously finished in 7 different wine casks), this single malt Scotch whisky has enjoyed a finishing period in casks from Bouvet Ladubay which previously held sparkling wine. This whisky was distilled in 1997, then bottled in 2015 and launched at the distillery's annual whisky festival which coincides with Fèis Ìle. 3,970 bottles were produced.
Stewed orchard fruits, light notes of toasty oak and a little bit of seaside fudge. Dark chocolate tart later on, with a little bit of blackcurrant syrup drizzled over it.
Lots more chocolate and dark fruit on the palate, with a sprinkle of ginger and nutmeg. Continued toasty oak brings out vanilla and woody elements.
A final hint of cacao and vine peach.
