At the peak of the Jura distillery's core range (relaunched in mid-2018) sits the Isle of Jura 18 Year Old. This expression aged in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels before enjoying a finishing period in Premier Grand Cru Classé Bordeaux barrels, imparting a rich fruitiness. Top stuff for late evening dramming.
Cinnamon, dried berries, Wine Gums, hickory.
Brandied cherries, Turkish delight, milky coffee and blackcurrant jam.
Chocolate chip cookies, a touch of hay, orange oil.
I’m fascinated by those who have polarized views of this whiskey. Lots of 5s and 1s. Count me as a 4. The flavor profile is balanced, if a bit on the sweet side, albeit in a good way. It is not a deeply complex whiskey, but it is thoroughly enjoyable and makes and excellent evening quaff. It’s not a world beater, but it’s also not the dog overs describe. A fair buy.
A truly excellent whisky for the money. Beautiful wine flavours and so smooth. Highly recommended.

Why is it that the people who complain so much about this whisky tend to be those who write reams of complicated nonsense? A lovely 18 year old for this price.
I can not believe some of the comments on this whisky. Lovely smooth dram. 18 year old at this price. Try and get a another one with this quality taste
