In 2018, the Isle of Jura whisky range got a rather snazzy relaunch, which included this tasty 12 year old single malt. Distilled on the eponymous Inner Hebridean island, this expression was initially matured in American white oak ex-Bourbon barrels, before being moved over to Oloroso sherry casks for a finishing period. A great example of Jura's delicious malts, more than suitable as an after dinner dram.
Nutty barley, white wine, cinnamon, melon.
Chocolate fudge, pear, a portion of peppery malt tucked away.
Sherbet lemons and sultanas.

This 12yr old Jura in this new packaging is NOT finished in sherry casks but is an all bourbon matured whisky . I wasn’t sure about this at first as I was a big fan of the previous version but after a few weeks of being opened it has really come of age. It needs a bit of breathing space but there is plenty going on to keep you interested , even at 40% abv it has a good mouthfeel . They have used some good quality casks here . MOM , your description needs updating on this please.
Not a pleasant one in every way. It is peated, but there's no aroma there and the finish is not memorable. It's descend and has some quality, but not enough for the price. In my opinion that's not a fifty euros whiskey, in therty it may be ok.
Good but not great. You get your money's worth, for sure. Enjoy!
its not smooth, don't believe them, flavor is really nice, lemon or orange, sherry, but then burns and bitter aftertaste. so i don't understand how it won gold medal.
