A cracking 18 year old blended Canadian whisky from the J.P. Wiser's range. Wiser's has an incredibly long history, with the brand being established all the way back in 1857 in Ontario, and the first bottles were sold in 1893 (previously the whisky was only sold in casks!).
Milky coffee, fresh citrus, layers of butterscotch and honey.
Juicy orchard fruits come to the fore on the palate - think pear, apple and nectarine. Hints of black pepper and spicy cedar sit in the background.
Slightly nutty, with more hot oak and a generous dollop of caramel.

Thank heaven for snobbish malt drinkers who turn up their noses at blends. This is 18 years old and costs pocket change compared to single malts. It’s got heaps of complexity, and fruity notes. What a steal at this price.
What I'd expect from an 18 year old.
The best Canadian Whiskey I've ever tasted in 15 years! The original batch from about 2005 was the best at $25 per bottle. The 2020 batch is very good, but not like the original, and also $67 per bottle. Too good to ignore, though.
Best I've tasted so far. Not sweet at all, just subtile aromas and spices.
If you were hoping for 18 year old complexity you will be disappointed. Toffee is quickly overpowered by alcohol. There's much better at this price.
