    White Walker by Johnnie Walker

A limited edition whisky from Johnnie Walker, inspired by the absurdly popular television programme, Game of Thrones (in turn based off of George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire book series). Created by whisky specialist George Harper and his team, this whisky features malts from Clynelish (aptly one of the most northern Scotch whisky distilleries) and Cardhu, among others. The bottle has a temperature-sensitive graphic that will spell out the words “Winter is here” when it's at the right temperature for serving.

Lingering peppery malt and festive spices.

    Not worth the money

To my taste it's overly sweet, almost unbearable. No deepness, very sharp. The bottle is "pretty", but not elaborated at all, normal Johnny with a blue eye after being in the freezer. There are better whiskies with better bottles for less money.

Are we allowed to swear on this site?

If we are, it’s utter shite.

    Average

I was attracted to the bottle and almost put it down when I realised it was a gimmick. It's not brilliant but it's not bad either ... very average and slightly overpriced.

Not a bad whiskey in a lovely bottle

This is not a bad whisky, it is not in the slightest metallic as one reviewer suggested (maybe they drank it from a Thimble?) and its a nice tot, not too dissimilar from JW Black if you served it from the Fridge, the thermal reacted bottle for the White Walker is very cool and the taste is fairly smooth with a nice burn at the end that brings out a hint of cinemon ... there are better whiskys with more complexity for the money, my favourite being the slightly peaty Jura 10yr malt with a hint of sea salt at the end that is unlike anything I have tried before... however if I wanted a smooth whisky which this is overall then Paddy (its actually called paddy- triple distilled) is the best I have tried, even when compared with 50 or 60 pound bottles of dram (and ive tried a lot of whiskey ...like 50 or 60... maybe more? different ones now)... I know its Irish whisky but with its smooth moorish butterscotch after taste, I always keep a bottle in my collection (right up there and quite cheap so recommended by me)...however back to JW game of thrones whisky, let's not forget that after the expensive jubilee bottle the brand is referred too as the queens whisky and I can't say I've tried a bad JW, White Walker is syrupy and sweet with strong flavour and it is a pleasant blend that I would be happy to drink quite often (if not camparing to other whiskys in the same price range) ... to me a bad whisky would be bells or famous grouse which I would have to mix as its just terrible, JW is very drinkable and I can see why people like it. A pleasant 3 stars overall
