Johnnie Walker
Scotland
Blended
King George V is a very special edition from Johnnie Walker, packaged beautifully and made to celebrate the Royal Warrant bestowed upon the company by the monarch. This is made with some of Johnnie Walker's rarest stocks, including Cardhu, Lochnagar and even Port Ellen.
Rich, spicy aromas with hints of Christmas pudding, brandy butter and vanilla. Slightly nutty too, with notes of ground almond and blossom.
Fruity, creamy palate entry. Creamy notes of caramel, manuka honey and a hint of very refined wood smoke. Allspice and nutmeg develop.
Nutty finish with a surge of salt caramel and biscuity malt.
I've been waiting to open this bottle for a while now and it didn't disappoint. Creamy and smooth with packaging that sets the right mood before taste. Its by far the best scotch I've tasted and so it should be at this price. I also did not like Johhnie Walker Blue Label and this is very smooth and very different to it.
There's almost Digestif quality to it, as it has that smooth, yet sweet quality to it, making it a great alternative to dessert after a nice meal, or to enjoy during a special evening. It is a great treat to the palate, as it is playful but not overpowering or overwhelming. It is a bit pricey, but I'd recommend it to anyone who collects whisky (like my husband and I do).
it's truly one of the best whiskies i've had.
Very nice, as well it should be for this price - smooth, deep taste, some smoke, complex and lush - BUT really think it's overpriced for a blend and perhaps says more about the power of Johnnie Walker's marketing people than the quality of the whiskies themselves
This is something like never before.. smooth, delicate and very very fine taste.
