Johnnie Walker Platinum used to sit between Gold and Blue in the extensive range of blends, carrying an impressive 18-year-old age statement.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Sweet rich and deep notes with maraschino cherries, toffee caramel, vanilla, baked rhubarb crumble and a very thin whiff of smoke.
The richness continues onto the palate, which is sweet and warming, with creamy malt, oats and cereal. A spicy vanilla cinnamon dusting too with the gentle smoke again developing.
Dark chocolate with caramalised peel.
Another pleasing blend from Johnnie Walker, this is quite different from the gold label.

After having the first sip I convinenced my self not to drink more of JW platinum after which I shifted to 100 pipers. Felt 100 piper was better than platinum, no taste no complexity was found by me.
For fans of blended scotch whisky, this latest addition to the Johnnie Walker portfolio will not disappoint. Nose: Sherry oak, chocolate, wet leaves, loam and mint. Palate: Blood oranges, rosewater, dark plumbs, raspberries. Finish: Salt, slight signature Johnnie Walker smoke (probably Talisker) and red fruits. General Impressions: This is a smooth, approachable dram that serves up lots of sherry, red fruits and a teensy weensy bit of smoke in a very refined and smooth package. I picked this up at duty free for $88. Fair price. I would not pay $149 where I live. Never. If you seek a pleasant, solid blended scotch, this works. It is not as great as Green Label, but I would put it ahead of Gold and Blue any day. Cheers!
Cant say i am impressed with this at all, intense heat that kills the taste buds, cant see how you can claim dark chocolate, caramel, vanillia cinnamon et, you must have tried a different malt. for £70 including postage not a drink i would ever buy again.Best mixed with a coke to kill it.
How does it compare to the Gold?...very simular...just that Smokey part which the Platinum has....but gold still 95%..as smooth and good as platinum....would definatly buy again.....review for Axispaw..cheers,..
Double black is not smoother,..but its good...green lable doesnt taste ad good as the Platinum....one bottle of Green lable..but no more....10 bottles of Platinum,...I still like it...each to there own!!
