The Spice Road is one of three Johnnie Walker releases from their Explorer's Club Collection, originally released for the Travel Retail market. As you might expect from the name, this is an enjoyably spicy whisky, packed with cinnamon and nutmeg notes.

Nutmeg and clove arrive first, before notes of tropical fruit and apricot develop.
Allspice, cinnamon and raisins, with a very subtle whisper of smoke hiding in the background. Vanilla grows along the way.

This is a funny JW. It really is. Become a globetrotter and Explorers Club member by following the paths of the past. This is a nice path to tread. And an easy dram to enjoy. I do like Johnnie walkers Interpretation of the spice road - especially because I get a prickling, peppery, spicy, smoky finish, that is not in the the nose and only faintly present on the palate. Clover and dark sugars I get on the palate. Not the top liner, but absolute worth a try.

A high price for a basic blend. Tasted a bit rough around the edges...i note no age statement. You could spend half of this to get a better blend.
