Johnnie Walker
Scotland
Blended
The Johnnie Walker Blue Label story begins in 1987 when the Distillers Company launched Johnnie Walker Oldest. It quickly became known as Blue Label, for obvious reasons, and was a blend of rare malt and grain whiskies bottled without an age statement with stylishly retro packaging that echoed the 19th century Johnnie Walker bottle.
Though expensive, or perhaps because it was expensive, it proved an instant hit. By 1997, it was selling 50,000 cases globally. As a known currency throughout the world, it’s perhaps the ultimate gift whisky. You know you’ve done a good job or your in-laws approve when you receive a bottle.
Blue Label is drawn from unparalleled Diageo reserves of maturing malt and grain whiskies from across four regions (Highland, Lowland, Speyside, and Islay), including ghost distilleries, that Johnnie Walker has privileged access to. Whatever the exact blend, a consistent flavour profile that’s a beautiful balance of rich, slightly smoky, and fruity elements.
Fragrant with good body. Notes of oak, crisp spice, dried fruit, pastries. Berry fruits, aniseed, hints of cedar, a touch of spice and citrus.
Supple and balanced. Good toffee and hints of very wistful smoke. Chocolate, hints of grass and a good hit of malt.
Floral, oaky, good length, urged on by a plume of very well-kept, highland style smoke. Dried fruit, spice, honey.
One of the ultimate premium blends, Blue Label is a legend in its own right and will continue to be.

Enjoyable but like others have said for the price around 150$ you can do better. A nice gift for someone who knows very little about scotch. A poor gift for someone who appreciates it.
Not the worst, but it is exceptionally bland and overhyped. It's a shame that so many recognize this whiskey as "precious and rare" when there are dozens and dozens of better drams out there. If you've never tried Blue Label before, do yourself a favor: order a glass at a bar, drink it, get the "mystery" of it out of your system and move on to the good stuff.
Extremely disappointed. This is by far the worst bottle I ever purchased, value for money wise. This so call "legendary" whisky is way way way over priced for what it is. The money you paid is just for the brand nothing else. I could get a better whisky with a lot less money, may be even half the money. It's not a bad whisky, especially after giving it a bit of time and a few sip but not for its price. It's very uninspiring, very thin, lacks complexity. Will never buy another bottle.
I opened a bottle of JWBL this evening with much anticipation. After years of hearing the praise heaped upon this blended whisky I finally succumbed to the hype. My first tasting was straight up. My initial impression was medicinal with a bit of a burn and no significant character. I added a couple of ice cubes to my second glass. That helped with the medicinal taste and the burn but still not getting much character. I was expecting more. I usually drink highland single malts aged 12 years and splurge occasionally on an 18 year old or 21 year old. The 21 year olds that I sometimes buy are much more affordable than JWBL and are smoother and have more complexity. The next time I have couple hundred dollars to spend on scotch, I'll buy 2 or 3 bottles of highland single malts. The rest of this bottle will now be shared with friends. Maybe one of them will have a higher opinion.
