Johnnie Walker
Scotland
Blended
The third release in a series of astounding expressions for Johnnie Walker, the Masters of Flavour is a 48 year old blended Scotch whisky created by master blender Jim Beveridge, alongside an expert team assembled of malt master Donna Anderson, cask master James Carson, and distillation master Douglas Murray. It features a selection of rare and exciting whiskies from closed distilleries, balanced with whiskies from some iconic distilleries still producing fabulous whiskies to this day.
Ripe tropics fruit, subtle fireplace smoke and musky oak combine with an underlying grain sweetness (Scotch tablet, foam banana and creamy vanilla). There's also touches of darker fruits, marmalade on wholemeal toast, sea air and old books.
Rich and oily with exotic fruit and vanilla custard taking centre stage again, with stewed orchard fruit, butterscotch, an underlying herbaceousness, a little star anise, and warming oak in the backdrop.
A little ginger, black pepper, molasses, and mango.
£11.41 - £84.95
Great with Coke or Ginger Beer on the rocks. A bit pricy at £20k a bottle though.
It's alright as a mixer but I prefer Double Black.
