Johnnie Walker 18 Year Old (or "Aged 18 Years") is a terrific blended Scotch whisky from the world-famous range, which features a combination of up to 18 different whiskies, including the likes of Cardhu, Glen Elgin, Auchroisk and Blair Athol, among others. Carefully created by master blender Jim Beveridge, this expression packs bags of creamy vanilla, vibrant fruit and runny honey, alongside soft wisps of smoke. Back in the days of yore and yonder, this was known as Johnnie Walker Platinum Label.
Honeyed cereals, Cadbury's Fruit and Nut, distant bonfire smoke, clementine and spring blossom.
Peanut brittle, candied peels, plump sultana, a whisper of floral malt gives it an aromatic mid-palate, before giving way to a whisper of dry, earthy smoke.
Another wave of honey, with a soft hint of cinnamon spiciness.
This grows on you. Initially when I first tried this whisky I did not enjoy, however, it has grown on me and I would not hesitate to recommend.
My bottle tastes like Cardhu 12 years old. Thus very little complexity, tastes like a very average Scotch. May be JW Black would be better. The lot code is L0008DN002 00001341 Bought in a large reputable online whisky store.
Surprisingly good! Especially for the price. I'm impressed. After being thoroughly disappointed by the blue label, took a leap of faith to try the 18. Didn't have much expectation, was I wrong. It is a much better over all whisky then the blue and at half the price. 3 stars for the whisky and 1 star for the price.
It appears that there are a few assholes trying to taste and rate this. I am thoroughly impressed with the quality and value. An exceptional buy if you can pick it up sub $100 AUD.
I am fan of Johnnie Walker.
