Blended
Johnnie Walker
Scotland
Johnnie Walker Red Label Whisky was created 1909 and is a classic blended whisky, a great mixer and back bar favourite.
A surprisingly rich, aromatic nose with heather honey, mixed peels, soft smoke and rum spice.
Cedar wood, oak and butterscotch, aniseed, Christmas cake and malt.
Long, spiced nose with smoke on the tail.
£14.16 - £233.00
Do yourself a favor and stay away from the Red Johnny. You can get a Ballantine's for about the same price, or a Teatchers for even less. Don't fall victim to the marketing wank.
Smokers might enjoy this. Because that's what it tastes like. I like my Scotch neat on ice, but with this I add mixers.
I only buy Red Label when it's on offer for £15 which it often is. For this price there's only one better whisky I know of and that's sold at Aldi but the name escapes me. A strong 3.5 from me(Aldi gets a 4) Red Label tastes good, not unpleasant at all.
I bumped it up to 3.5 because it's the best bang for your buck. You're getting the kind of quality for $25 that is usually reserved for a Scotch that costs $10 more. And it'll mix with anything; except, apparently, Diet Coke. (lol)
Purchased with the expectation that it would provide a cheap mixing option. Wasn’t keen on the mix with Diet Coke. I prefer the sweetness of bourbon but tried it neat and was pleasantly surprised with the smoke and flavours. I like it!
