Originally released to the travel retail market, Double Black combines the rich, malty flavour of Black Label with slightly peatier whisky and casks that were more heavily charred. The result is a toasty, smoky whisky with Johnnie Walker's usual rich, malty core.
Slightly smoky and almost medicinal on the nose, it offers up hints of vanilla, a little tar, a touch of barbecue sauce, citrus and malt.
Good body and very creamy with a sublimely malty core. It offers up a surprising level of peat smoke which works really well. Creamy sweetness, hints of soft wood smoke, salty butter, custard and cereal grains.
Good length with notes of malt, boiled sweets, black pepper and cool smoke.

October 2017: Like regular Black Label, muffled by a cozy blanket of extra peat and sweetness. Quite a treat. Next evening, with 4/5 of the bottle intact, it was stale and syrupy with unwelcome bitterness. Regular Black would not have gone off like this. Stick with cheaper, superior, regular Black Label: It's not what it used to be, but it's reliable, rounded and pleasant. The remaining Double Black is relegated to 'The Woolworth' cocktails with a rinse of Islay and orange bitters, and a twist of lemon rind, to make it palatable.
Lovely dram, just didn't get any 'custard' in the palate.
Creamy smoky goodness..... not really peaty just a good solid smoke flavor blended with creamy malty goodness
very good
Awesome.
