Produced by John Distilleries in Goa, India, the Paul John range of single malt whiskies is named after their Chairman. Made using Indian 6-row barley from the Himalayan foothills, Brilliance is matured in bourbon barrels for 3-5 years before bottling at cask strength. (As with other Indian single malts, the tropical climate causes greater evaporation, around 12-13% a year, but in turn they show very well at younger ages.)
Good core of juicy barley. Ryvita with salted butter. Cinnamon-dusted-red berries, with a little green apple skin following it up.
Chomp Bars - lots of chewy caramel and chocolate here. Picks up from lively spice along the way, with a little bit of waxy orange peel on the mid palate.
Orange lingers. Surprisingly long, with the rye notes from the nose coming back in full force.
A fine Indian single malt from John Distilleries.
Honey on the nose. Big buttery sweetness in the mouth, candied tropical fruit. Watering really brings out the toffee of the malt adn the extra six percent means you can take it wuite far. Almost like parma violets or an old sweet shop on the nose.
Didn't know what to expect with this one but went for it. Sweet with a wee bit of caramel. Found it disappearing quite easily.....easy drinking and enjoyable
Average score from me. it seemed stronger than 46% to my taste, i’ve had many a cask strength whisky which is drinkable neat. Water did nothing for the flavour for me. I only had 3cl sample, which was enough for my curiosity. Glad I tried it but that’s all. this is only my opinion mind.
Superb whisky, slightly tropical and nice and oily. Tastes older than it is and unlike some Indian drops is very well price. I am a fan.
Excellent single malt from John distilleries Goa. Quality and taste are extremely good ?
