    Single Malt

    Paul John Brilliance

Produced by John Distilleries in Goa, India, the Paul John range of single malt whiskies is named after their Chairman. Made using Indian 6-row barley from the Himalayan foothills, Brilliance is matured in bourbon barrels for 3-5 years before bottling at cask strength. (As with other Indian single malts, the tropical climate causes greater evaporation, around 12-13% a year, but in turn they show very well at younger ages.)

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Good core of juicy barley. Ryvita with salted butter. Cinnamon-dusted-red berries, with a little green apple skin following it up.

    Palate

Chomp Bars - lots of chewy caramel and chocolate here. Picks up from lively spice along the way, with a little bit of waxy orange peel on the mid palate.

    Finish

Orange lingers. Surprisingly long, with the rye notes from the nose coming back in full force.

    Overall

A fine Indian single malt from John Distilleries.

    Simply incredible!

If this said scotch on it and not Indian this would be very very well known. This put simply is a stunning single malt. You have to try this.. it could even change your life.

    Not Quite Brilliance

As the title says, this is not quite Brilliance, perhaps a bit of arrogance when naming it. It is ok and quite drinkable but it has notes of being a young 5 year old whisky to me with hints of some older stuff in there. For me it just doesn't have the quality as a fully 10 years plus aged Scotch single malt. Drinkable but overpriced young whisky which may age at a faster rate in the heat of India but this doesn't make it fully mature.

    India can produce world class

India is not quite famous for making whiskies but this one 'Paul John' from Goa will outsmart that belief. Truly a mastercrafted spirit with all the goodness of world class peers and a touch of Indian warmth in every sip. A must try to nullify all the past equations about Indian whiskies. Having won various awards this a game changer whisky.
