A no-age-statement single malt from Crabbie's! John Crabbie’s original premises were at Yardheads in Leith, hence the name of the whisky. As the brand new distillery gets up and running, Crabbie's has released this single malt from an undisclosed distillery for us to enjoy! A brilliant spirit to try out some whisky cocktails with - may we suggest a Highball?
Custard Cream biscuits, lemon peel, a touch of savoury wood.
Mint leaf, toffee apple, white grape, slightly toasty.
Rye heat and soft cinnamon.

Tasted like old toenails - smelt horrible tasted worse and would avoid at all cost - better whiskey out their for a bargain price
Bland, with a taste of a sticky plaster, on a cut finger. One star because it’s cheap for a single malt.
I was drawn to Crabbies Yardhead whisky as a discounted brand with an unusual bottle design, and the reputation of the Crabbies brand. It is now a firm favourite and I reuse the bottles in wine making and as candle holders.
I like this whisky very much and find some of the negative comments rather surprising. It is smooth, mellow and (thankfully) not smokey, peaty or oaky. I have shared it with a number of friends and neighbours all of whom are whisky and water drinkers and nobody has turned their nose up at it. I am currently on my fourth bottle and anticipate buying many more. I also approve of the absence of wasteful and unnecessary packaging (no box).
Like many other reviewers I bought it because of price. I was pleasantly surprised. If I’d have blond tasted it I would have thought I was drinking a good, smooth blend not a single malt. Not a huge amount of character, but smooth and rounded.
