    Bain's Cape Mountain Whisky

First released in 2009, this is South Africa's first ever single grain whisky, coming from the The James Sedgwick Distillery in Wellington. Bain's Cape Mountain whisky is matured in first fill bourbon casks for an initial three years before spending a further two years in fresh first fill bourbon casks! It's named after the chap who built the first roads in Wellington.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Grapefruit peels, custard creams and icing sugar. Soon followed by nutmeg and vanilla sugar. Lightness throughout.

    Palate

Soft and well-rounded with continued vanilla cream. Fresh pear, banana and hints of cardamom and oak.

    Finish

The sweet citrus peels return, along with a little bit of meadowsweet.

Very smooth pairs well with my favorite cigar

I found it utterly enjoyable along with my favorite Olivia cigar unfortunately I can't find it in Georgia..(Take hope a friend is visiting a state that has Bains and has promised to get me some)..

    Easy drinking

Beautiful whisky agree with the vanilla finish. But im leaving a review as i have a bottle brought over from S.A from time to time and it is actually 43%!!

    Fantastic

Tastes like a much older single malt, with a rich dark chocolatey flavour.

    Easy Going

Simple and pleasant, but minimal nose and swift finish. Sweet and uncomplicated. Great for those at the beginning of their whisky journey. 100% corn. Perfect for a hot day.

    Summer evening

Really light, sweet and smooth. Icing sugar and vanilla stand out to me. Perhaps really indulgent ice cream. It’s not very complex, but it is a decent one for a summer evening and that’s not taking anything away from it.
