Bain's Cape Whisky 75cl
South African single grain whisky! How often do you see that? "Not often" is the answer, and the question was rhetorical so... Anyway, released in 2009, this is South Africa's first ever single grain whisky, coming from the The James Sedgwick Distillery in Wellington. Bain's Cape Mountain whisky is produced in column stills, matured in first fill bourbon casks for five years and named after the chap who built the first roads in Wellington.

I did not expect anything this good! Absolutely brilliant.
A friend's sugestion
I have been establishing a collection of whisky with 30/40 bottles for 2 years now, I decided to try out this bottle for sentimental value to reminis my days of living in Africa, and I was actually blown away but how lovely it is!
This is has the same sort of flavor as a good bourbon, but in my opinion it is better than most. Very smooth, not overpowering, amazing sweet smell, addictively good tasting, and great for drinking neat.
I will even go as far as saying the flavour is far better than the majority of scotch, and as a scotch fanatic that has cut me deeply to say it. I definitely recommend it. I can't recommend it enough. Tried it with a friend who also remarked on its incredibility. I am quite floored by this experience.

After a 10 year absence I paid a visit to my home country being spoiled for choice with all the Scottish whiskey's, and I have tried a fair few. My friend works in the food industry and she said I should try it. Needles to say this was my whisky of choice for the holiday. And certainly value for money. Smuggled about 6 bottles back to share with friends. Try it and you will be pleasantly surprised it will knock your socks off.

This is a surprise. A delightfully smooth whiskey and I understand it has won a number of awards. I am not usually influenced by such awards but this one is definitely deserved. A lovely whiskey and one that even a Malt devotee should try ... And then keep in his whiskey cabinet!
