    James Eadie's Trade Mark "X"

You might recognise the name James Eadie and Trade Mark "X" if you're a whisky history buff (or time traveller). Eadie began producing this expression all the way back in 1854, and trademarked the cross logo in 1877 - just a year after the Trade Mark Registration Act became a thing! Trade Mark "X" was produced until the late 1940s, then disappeared. However, the brand has been relaunched by Eadie's great-great-grandson, with a recipe that features 14 of the 16 whiskies that appeared in the original Trade Mark "X", including a couple of closed distilleries!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Raisins drizzled with spiced rum and Sherry, a hint of grassy peat, oily walnut.

    Palate

Mexican chocolate, ripe red berries, brown sugar, another waft of soft peat smoke.

    Finish

Juicy apricot and pear notes last on the finish.

Reviews for James Eadie's Trade Mark "X"

This blended whisky is young and requires water to tame the burn that comes from young whisky , but its palatable once calmed down ,you used to get a card in the box which let you know which distilleries made up the blend, there was only about 14 different whiskies in it. Its also a good price.

    Good

A good blended whisky. A touch more peat than I expected but not overwhelming. A touch of water revealed more subtle flavours.

    Best blended malt

I was given a bottle of James Eadie's Trade Mark "X". A wonderful surprise as I tend to avoide blended. Stunning but all gone so just had to buy another. Try it.

    Good Sipper!

A nice value here if you like a bit of a Smokey scotch. It looks lighter than it tastes. Not Islay Smokey but still comes through with some dried fruit & baking spice to balance.

    Lovely

Very nice indeed. Just a hint of smoke\iodine at the beginning but far from over powering, yet ends with some sweetness and...will be buying again.
