Oh, and they never expire...
Rye whiskey from Jack Daniel's - no, you're not imagining it! Their first new grain recipe in 150 years is a tasty rye, made with 70% rye, 18% corn and 12% malted barley. What's more, this rye is drawn from single barrels.
Nose: Hazelnut and almond, spicy grain and an underlying hint of corn.
Palate: Light oak spices develop first, alongside another helping of corn sweetness. Ripe apricot and orange.
Finish: Lingering peppery warmth.

It's pricey but it's good. In my opinion it's worth the price tag. It's definitely not what one would expect from a bourbon or Canadian Rye but has a character all of its own. This offering from the Daniels distillery is rich, complex and multi faceted. The 45% abv brings the extra oomph required. One for sharing with like minded friends.

Colin G Bubblegum and black cherry on the nose. More black cherry on the palate with a subdued rye and a sickly sweet finish. It's quite unique and almost tastes manufactured like a drambuie. However, it is a good drink and something I would want on my bar. Good, unique, but not great.

This one got me. I have had a few ryes and enjoy them but this one is a sort of hybrid, darker in color and a heavier feel then a light rye. Citrus notes are blended with a buttery hazelnut butterscotch that makes it particularly tasty. A favorite that I will be back for many times.
