Jack Daniel's Gentleman Jack

Gentleman Jack Bottling Note

Jack Daniel's Gentleman Jack is a smooth and sophisticated whiskey, perfect for enjoying neat or on the rocks. It has a distinctively rich flavour with notes of vanilla and spice.

Gentleman Jack is a premium version of Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey. The main difference is that it enjoys a 'double mellowing' as it's filtered through charcoal before being filled into the barrel (the Lincoln County Process) and once again before it's bottled.

How should I drink Gentleman Jack Whisky?

Gentleman Jack is undoubtedly good enough to enjoy on its own. In his book Whisky: The Manual, Dave Broom also suggests that Gentleman Jack actually works better than the regular Jack Daniel's Old No.7 in a Jack and Coke.

In addition to its smooth flavour profile, Gentleman Jack is also known for its distinctive and elegant packaging. The brand's signature bottle is designed to look like a flask and is decorated with elegant, hand-written labelling that pays homage to the brand's heritage and tradition.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Spicy nose with caramel, charred oak and a little aniseed.

Palate: Liquorice-led palate with oak and cinnamon, a touch of banana too.

Finish: Roasty and toasty finish, plenty of spice and citrus too.

Reviews for Jack Daniel's Gentleman Jack
Big thumbs up, smooth drink and sweet tasting
I bought a bottle of this on a recommendation from a friend. I wasn’t disappointed. I’m normally a single malt drinker used to a rich full bodied whisky so knew I would be in for a different type of drink. It’s a much lighter flavour and easy to drink straight. There is a complexity of flavouring which tend towards the vanilla and sweeter.

Delicious Banana, Caramel and Spice Whiskey
I first tasted banana, then caramel. I knew there was an herb or spice that I wasn't able to identify, so I came to this website. Anise and cinnamon make sense. I get a bit of nuts (walnuts, maybe?), but it's not as marked as other whiskeys and this is one of the only whiskeys that I don't get a strong vanilla taste while or after drinking. This is a unique tasting, cozy drink and goes down well served neat.

Buy it.
Excellent. Better than No 7. Excellent with a cube of ice. My usual brands are Scotch or Irish but I will definitely be buying again. Need I say more.

Worth the extra few bucks
Spend the extra few bucks. Blind taste tests and 100% of the people picked Gentleman over the original. Anyone saying it's "uninteresting" is repeating what they heard in the post you google when searching for smoothest jack. How can it be less interesting when all they are doing is adding more flavour and toning down the ethanol smell/taste?

Very good smooth whiskey at a great price
I cannot simply write that it is very good. It wouldn't be fair, since the haters usually write much more than a couple of words. Well, then: in my opinion this is an excellent deal for a very good whiskey. Is it different from No. 7? Of course! It would be quite stupid putting the same product in different bottles, wouldn't it? This Gentleman steers away from bourbon and goes towards smooth whisky. Give it a try (not if you are expecting No.7 in a different bottle).

Not Bad But Uninteresting
Not a bad whiskey, but pretty unremarkable. Smoother to drink indeed, but nothing more. Would drink if offered, but don't think I'd buy again. Regular No.7 would be a better choice since it's cheaper.
