    Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey

Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey has been made at its Lynchburg distillery since 1875. The branding and original label, sometimes referred to as No. 7 or Black Label; has made its way into pop culture, with merchandise sold the world over and a history of association with music. Frank Sinatra was even buried with a bottle. The Tennessee whiskey makers use a mash bill made up of 80% corn, 12% rye, and 8% malt to create Jack Daniels whiskey, which is then filtered through 10 feet of sugar maple charcoal to produce a mellow, slightly smoky character. A method known as the Lincoln County Process, it means this is not a bourbon, but instead meets the legal definition of a Tennessee whiskey. Jasper Newton "Jack" Daniel ( c. January 1849 – October 9, 1911) was an American distiller and businessman, best known as the founder of the Jack Daniel's Tennessee whiskey distillery.

    Nose

Light with plenty of sweetness. There are hints of dry spice and oily nuts, a touch of smoke.

    Palate

Quite smooth and soft with notes of banana milkshake, a mixed nut note, a touch of caramel with crème anglaise.

    Finish

Sweet with a little cereal sweetness and toasty oak.

Whiskey snobs aside, this is a quality product

As somewhat of a whiskey snob, I grudgingly admit that this is a quality Tennessee Whiskey. It's very smooth and drinkable if not complex and very good for the money.( keep in mind I'm in the US so its only about 22 bucks a bottle here). I'm never reaching for this over my beloved Blantons or Knob Creek( yes I know they are bourbons and therefore different) but despite the redneck mass produced image it's a good product.

    Smooth as silk

It's not a whisky for a special occasion; it's your ordinary "watching-TV whisky", but it's so very smooth that it always make me happy after a long day.

reaction to Mr Jack Is my Fav

Jack is technically not a Bourbon but a Tennessee whiskey. Please read some wikipedia's before claiming knowledge. Next to that I think that you can't compare a Tennessee whiskey with a Bourbon, two different production methods that end up in two different taste profiles. I'd rather have a George Dinkel over a Jack. This Tennessee Whiskey, in my opinion, is good for mixing, that's all

    1 Bottle 1 Night

Young whisky drinker. Love some scotches, hate drinks with bad aftertaste (Bells). Mr JD is right up my street. I find it sweet and my nose loves the aromas. Quite happily get through 70cl neat. Nothing like that smell to wet the tongue. I imagine some drinkers would call my taste unrefined. ;).
