    Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey

Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey has been made at its Lynchburg distillery since 1875. The branding and original label, sometimes referred to as No. 7 or Black Label; has made its way into pop culture, with merchandise sold the world over and a history of association with music. Frank Sinatra was even buried with a bottle. The Tennessee whiskey makers use a mash bill made up of 80% corn, 12% rye, and 8% malt to create Jack Daniels whiskey, which is then filtered through 10 feet of sugar maple charcoal to produce a mellow, slightly smoky character. A method known as the Lincoln County Process, it means this is not a bourbon, but instead meets the legal definition of a Tennessee whiskey. Jasper Newton "Jack" Daniel ( c. January 1849 – October 9, 1911) was an American distiller and businessman, best known as the founder of the Jack Daniel's Tennessee whiskey distillery.

    Nose

Light with plenty of sweetness. There are hints of dry spice and oily nuts, a touch of smoke.

    Palate

Quite smooth and soft with notes of banana milkshake, a mixed nut note, a touch of caramel with crème anglaise.

    Finish

Sweet with a little cereal sweetness and toasty oak.

    classic

The person who wrote the "It is what it is"-review completely gets what this whiskey is all about: relaxing after a crappy day (or, for that matter, celebrating a good one). Solid and dependable whiskey for uncomplicated but flavourful and relay enjoyable sipping.

Excellent for every day drinking and for cooking as well. The smell and taste of smoke is little overwhelming in my opinion, but anyway, is one of my favourite.

    Classic

You can't say much about JD. No.7 it is classic simple whiskey, distillery starter with price and quality, however it's got that specific smell and taste, goes well in every combo, neat or mixed like a cocktail

Nice but not a top shelf Whiskey of course

People, you get what you pay for! I live in South America, and JD is about $27 bucks down here. It's just a little above of what even deserves to be called whiskey (which you can find for as low as $16 bucks). Don't expect greatness. However, I gave it 5 stars as for its price it's pretty good. I like the smell overall, nice, it's like wood and almonds. The taste is a bit on the strong side, but I do enjoy strong liquor. It's the great one among its price range, and I dare to say even better than some more pricey ones in the $35-$40 range. Not for celebrating a great achievement or an anniversary but good enough to sit back and relax at home or at a bar after a hard day.

    It is what it is.

This is not a fancy bourbon or malt whisky. It's not like Ardbeg, Pappy or Macallan. This is a simply whiskey for when you just want a drink after a hard day, and that, is what makes this whiskey great.
