Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey has been made at its Lynchburg distillery since 1875. The branding and original label, sometimes referred to as No. 7 or Black Label; has made its way into pop culture, with merchandise sold the world over and a history of association with music. Frank Sinatra was even buried with a bottle. The Tennessee whiskey makers use a mash bill made up of 80% corn, 12% rye, and 8% malt to create Jack Daniels whiskey, which is then filtered through 10 feet of sugar maple charcoal to produce a mellow, slightly smoky character. A method known as the Lincoln County Process, it means this is not a bourbon, but instead meets the legal definition of a Tennessee whiskey. Jasper Newton "Jack" Daniel ( c. January 1849 – October 9, 1911) was an American distiller and businessman, best known as the founder of the Jack Daniel's Tennessee whiskey distillery.
Light with plenty of sweetness. There are hints of dry spice and oily nuts, a touch of smoke.
Quite smooth and soft with notes of banana milkshake, a mixed nut note, a touch of caramel with crème anglaise.
Sweet with a little cereal sweetness and toasty oak.

If you are a scotch fan, this is bad
I was recently given a bottle of JD and thoroughly enjoyed it. To me it is a good solid American style whiskey, drunk on the rocks. Although by no means my favourite sipping whiskey the bottle did disappear very quickly.
I was presented a bottle of this by my grandmother for my 26th birthday as she knew I appreciated whisky - bless her. I've chastised so many people for drinking this, I've been that guy at the bar sniggering at the JD drinker as I snaffle my Lagavulin. The other night I saw the cubic bottle in my cabinet after a long week and thought; "why not" as I grabbed a fist full of ice, full of fear. ...I was pleasantly surprised. I'm not ashamed to say I enjoyed it - it was tasty. Is this craft whisky? No, is it top shelf? No. For years I have judged people based on their choice of tipple but no more. Maybe I'm getting old or maybe I'm still a boy, who knows. But for the price it's decent - no whisk(e)y is worth only one star...
In vodka theres smirnoff which is strong charcoal and raw alcohol bite, jack is the same but with sweet simple whiskey flavour. If you have the money gentleman's jack is better. But for that price theres many others that some might say is better. Some people don't like it because it's too simple, I like it for that. Not a drink you want to start with for getting a palate for whiskies. But its good. Will give you a whiskey face if you drink too much of it.
I had to laugh as I read the reviews and comments on Jack Daniels whiskey. Seemed that the snobs/haters (yes, you proudly know who you are) tried SO hard to come up creative and witty ways to beat this whiskey down. I seriously doubt there's more than a couple refined palette's in the entire group and you can tell from the posts who they are-- the rest are just wanna-be's. If Jack Daniel's was such garbage, why is it one of the top selling whiskey's in the world? The answer is simply people like what they like and that's it. Trying to come off like an elitist douche whose opinion 'obviously' trumps the masses is laughable at best. I'm sure the REAL elitist's with their refined palette's don't bother with threads like this - why would they? And yes, I do like Jack Daniels... With Coke...
