An Islay single malt from a secret distillery, Islay Storm has loads of peaty character.
Peat smoke, oily, briny, some malt.
Sweet rush initially, then onto medicinal peat and seaweed, some bourbon notes, spices, custard.
Smoke, long and spiced.
This is complex the flavours won't be for everyone, but damn it hits all the the right notes for me!! This is what I've been looking for since Lagavulin got so tame and dull !!
Not as vibrant as The English Smokey. Not bad, but just not as good. Lots of fuss about Islay peat whiskies. Not sure why.
Not a bad drop. Wasn't taken by anything in particular but I did keep returning to the bottle night after night for at tipple. Was dissapointed when it was all gone.
If, like I do, you come on here to decide whether or not to buy something, I can tell you that if you like Islay whisky, then you will like this.
My regular is Port Charlotte, but when I think about the difference of 59.95 for Port Charlotte vs Islay Storm for 19.99 I think I can have my first one of PC and then continue with Islay Storm. Great value and taste.
