Islay Storm
Single Malt
An Islay single malt from a secret distillery, Islay Storm has loads of peaty character.
Peat smoke, oily, briny, some malt.
Sweet rush initially, then onto medicinal peat and seaweed, some bourbon notes, spices, custard.
Smoke, long and spiced.
Tastes like a tree branch that's been lit on fire and snuffed out. BTW Trader Joe's sells this for $20 a bottle
Tastes remarkably like Talisker, for a fraction of the price.
Not as peaty (harsh) as some of the classic Islays but very smooth with lots of flavour and certainly peaty enough to be able to recognise. I normally reserve my Islays for special occasions but this has disappeared very quickly........ That to me says it all!
I don’t understand rating down a dram to one star because it is not what you normally drink? Personally I love Islay Whiskys and this is superb! Sooo smooth and while some say oil, I say silk. Will get again once my current bottle runs out.
If Dewars White Label was given a peating.
