That Boutique-y Whisky Company
Scotland
That Boutique-y Whisky Company's Invergordons have never disappointed and often 'felt' impressively aged. Guess work has been taken out of the equation now, however, as all new Boutique-y releases now carry an age statement. This little beauty (their fifth batch) is 43 years old!
The award-winning label, as ever, features a diagram of Coffey still (which the distillery used to have) with the pronunciation taken a little too literally...
Batch 5 is a release of 528 bottles.
‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
Rich fudge and oak, orange rind and a hint of rosewater.
Toffee'd oak furniture, top notch balancing sugars and rich spices too.
Lingering oak shines proudly on a thoroughly enjoyable finish.
Exactly what you'd hope for from a grain of this age, stunning.
Forget everything you think you know about Grain whisky. This is very obviously neat Maize (corn) and the fruity, super-sweet spirit shines through like a mother.
Take a pass on the Invergordon 42, the 43 is absolutely amazing. Unless stated, you might not realize this is a single-grain and not a single-malt. God bless batch 5.
