Nose: Through an unmistakable dusty oak note comes black cherry tobacco, pecan and fruity red apple. Caramel and dark chocolate bitterness are balanced by coffee icing, damson jam and caraway, with a touch of demerara sugar underneath.
Palate: Rich black fruit compote, a sweet earthiness and more dusty antique wood forms the core. From there comes suggestions of herbal spices and Bloody Mary mix bound up in leather. Vanilla and a bitter nuttiness from roasted chestnuts emerge with time.
Finish: Slightly meaty, almost corn beef notes linger in a dry and sadly short finish.
Overall: An excellent balance of flavour and an understated elegance makes this one to savour from Invergordon.
