This 23 year old Invergordon single grain Scotch whisky has been treated to a finishing period in a specially coopered, 50 litre Pedro Ximénez & Oloroso Hybrid Cask(!), made with staves from Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso casks - a first for the Darkness range! Ridiculously cool, incredibly well-Sherried whisky is the name of the game here, and this one is an absolute winner.
Initial huge grain custardy creaminess. Yum! Slowly hints of mixed berries and some leafiness are revealed before you’re in the grip of darker notes; spicy muscovado, coffee and just a hint of rancio.
Thick and juicy. We’ve moved further into the darkness with chilli chocolate, Corinth raisins and molasses.
Rich dark berries and whole almonds set in dark chocolate, with red berries and caramel sweetness from the grain offering balance.

A rich thick sherried grain whisky. Wonderful stuff.
