Intensity
Scotland
Single Malt
Intensely elegant and immensely flavourful, Intensity celebrates the purity of the partnership between Speyside single malt and sherry cask maturation. This ten-year-old single malt is a real gem, generously reflecting the common style of the Speyside region, and 100% finished in oloroso casks. The sleek bottle design is unashamedly simple yet sophisticated, inspired by high-end parfumiers, and whether it takes pride of place on your table or bar, we'll reckon it's certainly one people will be reaching for.
Thick caramel, rooibos tea, sticky ginger cake with dates, and a touch of treacle. Furniture polish and leatherbound books nestle in the depths.
Golden sultanas drizzled with honey, toffee pennies, vanilla fudge in the depths, and subtle roasted nuts - almonds and Brazils.
Well-developed notes of drying oak arrive for the finish, alongside perfumed notes of cedar and more of that rooibos from the nose.
The flavor profile strongly resembles that of Tomatin 18 Oloroso. However, for my palate, the Oloroso cask imparts a harshness that tends to overshadow the subtler notes, burying them beneath. While intriguing, it falls short of becoming my preferred single malt.
A cracking top strength dram needs a teaspoon or two of water and sit it for 10 mins to fully breath and bobs your uncle a dram that's cheap at double the price, superb & lives up to his name very very good just remember the sit for 10minutes rule, and you'll really enjoy this beauty.
Lovely smooth lingering taste - definitely buy again.
Tasting notes as described pretty spot on. High ABV means a brave palette or a little ice, as you wish - tailor it accordingly and it's a fantastic discovery. Intense but not too dry or sweet. Packed with flavour and complexity with a lovely long finish. Reminds me in that sense at least a little of Nikka FTB but without the cigar smoke.
It definitely has the "intensity" of the name, but given that it's also surprisingly well balanced and rather interesting. Half way through my first bottle and very glad to have been introduced.
