    Inish Turk Beg

    Inish Turk Beg Maiden Voyage

The first bottling of Inish Turk Beg, a lovely single malt made at the Cooley distillery. After distillation, the whiskey was taken to the island of Inish Turk Beg off the coast of Ireland. The island itself (whose name translates from Gaelic as "the small island of the wild boar") has a long history of illicit distillation, particularly of Poitin, so it is fitting that Inish Turk Beg whiskey is actually finished in Poitin casks! The whiskey was reduced to bottling strength using rainwater collected on the island, and there are just 2,888 of these distinctive leaning bottles!

    Maiden Voyage Inish Turk beg

I bought a bottle at Dublin airport for my 60th birthday to share with friends and neighbours. We all enjoyed it's smoothness and subtle flavours, sadly it did not last long that evening and a year later I bought another bottle, but sadly I finished it last year. I still have the 2 empty bottles as I use them as wine decanters excellent for sharing with friends

I have a bottle of the Inis turk beg for 2 years, I haven't opened it because the island distillery has gone bust and I believe it will raise in value. The business of poitín casks is a bit of nonsense dreamt up by some ad man. Poitín is rarely if ever put into casks of any sort but is usually made with metal drums and bottles after a couple of three runs .

    My wife enjoyed it!

Purchased as a present for my wife. It has taken some time for her to decide to drink it rather than admire the rather beautiful bottle and package it arrived in! Once opened it has gradually reduced and has now vanished. Comments ranged from 'strong but nice' to 'very nice' and not all influenced by the amount consumed! It would appear that it not only looks good but tastes good and ranks amongst the best to date....

    strong but subtle

Purchased this as a xmas present for my wife who appreciates spirits more than I do! After a prolonged period of looking at the bottle and thinking about it it was finally opened recently. The impression was one of a strong whiskey but interesting in the quite unique taste produced. It ultimately not only looks good but based on my wife's return visits to the bottle and smile, is good!
