An altogether smokier-than-normal addition to the Highland Park range, Dragon Legend shows off their peaty elements cleanly and clearly, alongside sweeter hints from the sherry-cask-matured portion of the expression.
Cut grass, roasted vanilla pod and a hint of mulled wine.
A robust core of heather-y, earthy smoke arrive straight away, with peppercorn, mince pie and oily malt in tow.
Notes of dried citrus and toasted barley linger, but the finish doesn't drag on too long (get it?).
Delicious, no nonsense whisky. Rich and delicately smokey but dangerous as it is very quaffable and as the bottle is black and heavy..... very difficult to tell how much has been consumed. A 4 star product at the full price of £40 and 5 stars at the £30 I just paid at Tescos.
Lovely - but wonder if the slight harshness reveals a younger (that the usual 12 years) age of the spirit?
A nice surprise gift from the wife. Really rich, oily, unctuous malt. Comforting. Sherry cask gives a nice hint of grape
Really enjoying this one.. Big hit of vanilla on the nose for me. Sweet smelling smokiness and a hit of pepper rips into your palate. Don’t let that put you off it’s absolutely fantastic in my opinion.. Definitely one to buy again..
This is a cracking single malt. Nicely smokey. Without being too strong (if there is such a thing).
