    Single Malt

    Highland Park Dragon Legend

An altogether smokier-than-normal addition to the Highland Park range, Dragon Legend shows off their peaty elements cleanly and clearly, alongside sweeter hints from the sherry-cask-matured portion of the expression.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Cut grass, roasted vanilla pod and a hint of mulled wine.

    Palate

A robust core of heather-y, earthy smoke arrive straight away, with peppercorn, mince pie and oily malt in tow.

    Finish

Notes of dried citrus and toasted barley linger, but the finish doesn't drag on too long (get it?).

An exciting malt that is balanced and doesn't just rely on fiery sensation. Expertly made and thought out. Don't worry about age expression, you won't miss it in this particular dram, it speaks of its own cache and quality.

My girlfriend got me a bottle for my birthday. Loved the bottle and packaging along with the viking legend of Sigurd (whom we probably should be celebrating rather than the snorting, venomous dragon...but the latter is a great icon. The nose gives little of what's to come, but is pleasant enough; quite grassy and a fair amount of vanilla. The palate I consider to be exciting, tingling with pepper and spice and the peat smoke steams in to make an exciting sensation with the fruity ness underlying it...great, even exciting stuff that reminds me of older expressions of some malts. The finish is paradoxically calm but fairly sharp and citrus based, reminding you of the it's exciting origin in the palate but not burning as it descends.

    Very good

This whisky has a really powerful arrival with sweetness and smoke, which is absolutely delicious, but doesn't last long by way of aftertaste. Very drinkable and good value for the price.

    A definite yes.

My wife purchased and served it to me unknowing the difference, i was delighted, a wonderful whisky, now a firm favourite.

    Smoky dragon poos

Really smoky dragon taste, with the tang of bullsh@t on the palate and the finish doesn't dragon too long (dont get it).

    Meh.....

Strange sardine taste - and it's young as well. Sweetish middle, biting finish. So its a NO from me despite the £30 price tag discounted at supermarket. This IS better than the standard HP12, but it's not one I will buy again. I'm giving up on HP until they start making decent whisky again, instead of marketing spin about vikings and other tosh.
