A great introduction to Highland Park's famed heathery peat smoke, the 12 Year Old is matured predominantly in sherry-seasoned European and American oak casks, so it's spicy, citrusy, and full of smoky aromatics. This is part of the Orcadian distillery's impressive core range, which was treated to a smart new look in 2024.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose

Fresh, clean and very aromatic. Floral notes abound the senses with a light grassiness. Notes of creamy Manuka honey and a touch of juicy citrus with cream and a well-balanced sweetness.

Palate

Rather full with a pleasant depth. Lurking somewhere in the substratum a grilled orange lies. Notes of granary toast and green tea with jasmine. A touch of sweetness.

Finish

Quite long with peppery spice and wood shavings.

Solid whisky, ... but.

Good, not great. Sweet honey & raisins with teases of smoky notes that try but are kept in the background, leaving one wondering if it was just one's imagination. Worth a go, but if you've got the $, grab the premium HP18 or even the Oban 14 or even an established favorite Islay malt like Lagavulin 16 & enjoy much more character. I like it well enough, but don't love it enough to buy another.

Great Whisky

This is a bit of a luxury. Great for special occasions. This single Malt has a beautiful aroma & a mild sweetness. It is great drank neat or with a quality mixer, I also really enjoy it in coffee or with green ginger wine .

Family favourite

I'm not a whisky conasuier but I have tried a few, so here's my review. The smell has a sweet smokiness with a mild peaty taste that lingers pleasently. Very smooth with hardly an alcoholic kick. It also comes in an awesome bottle

On the palate, fresh grain notes mingle with marzipan and a touch of celery. The finish is long, pleasantly bitter, and subtly peaty—like a recently extinguished campfire. Perfect for both casual evenings and celebratory feasts.

One of the best!

One of the best affordable whiskys on the market to buy. Warming, delicious and a special treat. Please take the time to experience the full flavour of the whisky, smell it taste a little and then drink, you wont be disappointed :)
